If those tags are lost, then there is no way to say that ComputerA was the computer referenced by the invoice for ComputerA. The serial numbers that the company applied to those computers were only done superficially on the case and they didn't bother to apply them to the BIOS. To be honest, I think you are out of luck. Not sure how I'm supposed to match up devices to the invoice for systems who's Serlal number stickers have come loose. Some great sources so far in the comments on how to pull additional unique identifiers from the MB or device ID, but none of them are a match for the ZZ serial numbers provided on the invoice. In the ones I've been able to check in the office the stickers are falling off, or are missing entirely.īuilds are provided by NCIX Models are MSI Heat, time, computer fans and dust have caused these stickers to come loose. Serial number stickers on the machines appear to have used a weak glue. ![]() Layout for the Invoice is all serial numbers starting in ZZ# where the # are numerical characters. I need to match these Computers to a list of serialnumbers provided on an invoice provided during their initial purchase. It's early, I don't want to talk to people.Įdit: Some follow up data. So now I'm scratching my head wondering if the serialnumber is recorded anywhere else in the system that I can access remotely, or if I'm going to have to ask 50 remote end users to physically crawl behind their machines, move the cables out of the way and squint really hard until they read out the correct gobbledygook I'm looking for and email it to me. In this case it returns To be filled by O.E.M. Normally My go to method is to open a command prompt and enter: wmic bios get serialnumber I need to collect the SN from every device. The previous IT team took no records before sending everybody home with their workstations at the start of covid. The connendrum: I have 50(ish) Desktop computers spread out between Work from home users in the region. ![]()
